About Praise
Christian Academy
Meet our Teaching Staff
Praise
Christian Academy is a ministry of Praise Assembly of God. Our student body
represents various denominations. We do not prohibit anyone from attending our
school based on religious beliefs. However, we do not compromise our belief in
Jesus Christ as the Son of God and our Savior in our classrooms, curriculum or
lives. Daily Bible class is part of our curriculum requirement as well as
Wednesday chapel services. The Bible is our standard, and we consider it the
infallible Word of God.
Praise Christian Academy is privileged to offer a quality, Christ-centered
education. It is our goal to work in conjunction with both the church and home
to encourage the academic and spiritual development of each student. We are
grateful for the opportunity to introduce young people to Jesus Christ and to
encourage them in their relationship with Him.
History:
PCA started out as Christian Life Academy some thirty years ago. We were
located on Soles and Beaver Streets in McKeesport when Praise Assembly of God
was Christian Life Church. Christian Life Academy orginally went from 5K to
12th grade. We had a day-care then as well.
When Christian Life Academy re-located to North Versailles we became Praise
Christian Academy and did away with the high school. We made that choice
because we felt we could not effectively prepare high school students for
college with our limited resources. We chose to concentrate on grades K-8, and
in so doing, have provided a quality educational experience.
More Information:
PCA does have an active Parent Teacher Fellowship. These volunteers
donate many hours to provide extras for our student body. The PTF is
responsible for the Campbell Label and Box Tops for Education programs. They
provide a Christmas store, sponsor a Fun Day at the end of the year, bless the
staff during Teacher Appreciation Week, sponsor field trips, decorate the
school, and work at a myriad of other activities that help make PCA the special
place it is. Every parent is considered a part of the PTF. Parents are
simply invited to help with any activity of their choosing. Meetings are
scheduled throughout the year and are open to everyone.
Our
average class size is 15 but classrooms can accommodate 25.
PCA offers computer, music art and gym classes to students in grades K-8.
Piano, guitar and drum lessons are available for $12 per half hour during the
school day. We offer tutoring at no charge during the school day as well.
Uniforms are required at PCA. Our provider is Schoolbelles. Tennis shoes are
permitted on gym day.
Students are admitted in the building at 8:30 AM. The first bell rings at 8:40
and the late bell is at 8:50. Dismissal is at 2:50.
Public school districts do bus to PCA as long as we are in their 10 mile radius
and they provide transportation to their own students. *Norwin School District
only transports kindergarten students to school. Norwin will not bus
kindergarten students home.
PCA offers hot lunch ($1.75) every day in addition to plain (.50) and pepperoni
(.55) pizza and nachos and cheese (.75).
